Accommodation Process for TCNJ Employees

The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) is here to help any TCNJ employee.

The process has three basic steps:

  1. Completing the Registration Form for Faculty and Staff;
  2. Submitting supporting documentation;
  3. Meeting with an Accommodations Manager.

Please read all of the information below before filling out the form:

Step 1:  The Affiliation Form

This is a very quick and easy form, basically asking you to identify your disability or access issue, and what accommodations you may have had in the past, and what accommodations you have in mind to address the issues that you are facing  now.  If you have read the details below, then you are ready to complete the form:  ARC Registration Form for Faculty and Staff.

Step 2:  Supporting Documentation

Supporting documentation can be emailed to arc@tcnj.edu and should address the issues that arise for you at work for which you need accommodations.  We are looking for documentation that includes:

    1. Diagnosis(ses)
    2. Reference to where/how these diagnoses cause issues in your work at TCNJ.

In the simplest case, this could be a letter from your licensed clinician (physician, therapist, etc.) on their professional letterhead.  If they can email you a PDF of that letter, then you can forward it directly to us.

Depending on your diagnosis, the documentation might also include or consist of diagnostic testing results (i.e., allergen testing, vision or hearing assessments), post-operative recovery plans, etc.  Documentation of accommodations at prior institutions or workplaces is also helpful.

If you don’t have your documentation or previous accommodations readily available, please indicate where you are in the process of getting it and an idea of the timeline for this so that we can plan accordingly — you can put this at the end of the form where you are asked if you have any questions.

Step 3:  Meeting with an Accommodations Manager

Your information will be reviewed and then you will be contacted to: ensure that we understand what you need, you have an opportunity to ask any further questions, and to settle on an accommodations plan and its implementation.  This does not happen immediately, so please contact us as soon as you need accommodations, and then please bear with us as we go through our process.
